OrthoAccel Announces New Partnership With Industrial Design Group Metaphase, Inc

HOUSTON, TX, August 11, 2008
– OrthoAccel Technologies, Inc., (OATI), creator of a potentially game-changing device for orthodontics, announces a new partnership with the Metaphase Design Group, Inc., a company that will be developing Generation 2 products for OrthoAccel.
“We are delighted to partner with OrthoAccel to create an innovative breakthrough appliance and more generally to begin a long term strategic relationship helping to grow OrthoAccel into a strong and powerful brand”, said Bryce G. Rutter, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Metaphase.

Mike Lowe, President and CEO of OrthoAccel, said, “We took this search and selection process very seriously. In fact, it included basic initial screening with about twenty firms. There are a lot of good industrial design and product development groups out there, but Metaphase emerged clearly as the best fit. Their portfolio speaks for itself when it comes to designing smart products around the user.”
OrthoAccel will continue to maintain their relationship with Devicix, the engineers of the Generation 1 devices currently in trials. Pete DeLange, Founder of Devicix said,
“OrthoAccel has some very innovative technology and it has been great to be part of their team. We’re very pleased with the performance of the first generation prototypes used in the clinical trials and now we will be working closely with the OrthoAccel team to move this innovative technology from successful clinical trials to a marketable product.”

Brent Tarver, Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Technology Development at
OrthoAccel, said, “We are very excited to integrate Metaphase into our device development partnership with Devicix. Devicix has done a great job of setting the ground-work for a functional device. Metaphase will take us to the next level and beyond with a new look and feel for our device.”
About OrthoAccel
Based in Houston, Texas, OrthoAccel Technologies, Inc., (OATI), is the creator of a potentially game-changing device for orthodontics. This device is being studied to verify that it reduces treatment duration for wearing braces by applying cyclic forces in combination with standard orthodontics to move teeth faster through accelerated bone remodeling. Importantly, the device works complimentary with all existing orthodontic technologies.

With an expected launch of this innovative and patented product in 2010, the company has established a Scientific Advisory Board and was a recipient of BioHouston’s 2007 Michael E. DeBakey Life Science Award for outstanding commercial and clinical opportunity.
