Orthodontists Report that AcceleDent Improves Predictability of Clinical Outcomes with Aligner Therapy

HOUSTON (August 1, 2016) – Highly regarded orthodontists in the U.S. report improved predictability of clinical outcomes when treating aligner patients with AcceleDent®, the first and only FDA-cleared vibratory device that has been clinically proven to speed up braces and aligner treatment by as much as 50 percent and reduce the discomfort associated with orthodontic treatment. Manufactured by OrthoAccel® Technologies, Inc., AcceleDent is a Class II medical device that employs patented SoftPulse Technology® to accelerate bone remodeling in the craniofacial region resulting in faster orthodontic tooth movement.

Dr. Manal Ibrahim of Innovative Orthodontic Centers in Naperville, Illinois, has been treating patients with AcceleDent for three years and says that she will not treat patients without it because of the additional control that the device provides her during the course of treatment.

“AcceleDent practically guarantees that all of the control I want and need to achieve the treatment outcomes that I promise patients will actually happen,” said Ibrahim, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and an Invisalign “Top 1%” provider. “AcceleDent works at the cellular level to ensure that the programmed movements in my aligners or my custom suresmile wires will be expressed more predictably.”

Ibrahim cites results of a female patient who began orthodontic treatment with aligners at 43 years old. The patient presented as a class III with complete anterior crossbite and bilateral posterior crossbite. The patient agreed to use AcceleDent for 20 minutes daily to speed up her treatment. She completed treatment in 12 months with 51 active aligners.

“This was a fairly complex case and without AcceleDent it would’ve taken 24 to 36 months to complete. But with AcceleDent we noticed remarkable results at every phase of her treatment, including at four weeks when her anterior crossbite was completely corrected,” said Ibrahim. “I’ve completed nearly 1,000 AcceleDent cases, so I have confidence that with this innovative device, I can more predictably achieve an outcome for a patient than has previously been possible in orthodontics.”

An early adopter of technology that enhances the orthodontic treatment experience, Dr. Edward Lin also reports improved clinical outcomes with AcceleDent and aligner wear. Lin practices at Orthodontic Specialists in Green Bay, Wisconsin and at Apple Creek Orthodontics in Appleton, Wisconsin.

“AcceleDent has enhanced the quality of my aligner therapy patients. The enhanced bone remodeling triggered by the device’s SoftPulse Technology helps to better seat the teeth into the aligner trays,” said Lin, who is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association.

In addition to the clinical advantages of adding AcceleDent to orthodontic treatment plans, Lin said that AcceleDent is a revolutionary technology for the field of orthodontics because it significantly enhances the patient experience.

“AcceleDent gives patients what they want – faster treatment with less pain. And the reduction in discomfort that AcceleDent gives patients is what differentiates the device from other accelerated treatment technologies,” said Lin.

One of Lin’s patients, a 30-year-old male whose wedding was approaching in less than six months, reported high satisfaction marks because AcceleDent sped up his treatment and made it more comfortable. The patient presented as a class I with mild spacing. Lin predicted that traditional treatment for this patient would take seven months, but with AcceleDent the patient was treated with 23 aligners and completed treatment in three months and three weeks.

“This is just one of many amazing cases where I’ve coupled AcceleDent with my suresmile digital software to achieve high quality clinical results and increased patient satisfaction,” said Lin. “In addition to acceleration, AcceleDent is my preferred accelerated treatment modality because of the reduction in patient discomfort and because it enhances the predictability and precision of my treatment protocol.”

According to the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, AcceleDent is the most common accelerated treatment technique used by orthodontists. The innovative technology is currently available in more than 3,000 orthodontic locations in the U.S.
